The Process

How the Book Works

The process

You go looking for something true. You bring it back, make it small enough to live, and live it. Then you come back and see what actually happened. That last step is the one that makes it a spiral.

1Preparation. You get ready before you arrive, so you are not spending the day arriving.

2Intention. What you are really seeking, held loosely, because what arrives is often not what you asked for.

3The journey. Micro, mez or macro. A ritual, a walk, or sitting in a chair breathing.

4aSitting with it. Before any writing. The body settles first and the mind catches up.

4bReflection. Your truth, in your own words, once it has settled enough to say.

5A plan. Small enough to carry into an ordinary week.

6Integration. Living it. A week, a year, or a lifetime.

7What happened. You come back and read it. Three ways it can go, and which one decides where you go next.

There are parts of us that do not want to remember, and do not want to grow. Not because they are bad, but because they are scared of change. When we do not write it down, it is easier for them to pull us back, and it sets us back even further.

It is a spiral, not a circle. You come back to the same marriage, the same work, the same relationship with money, and you are standing in the same place with more clarity than last time. Coming back to an old pattern is not a step backwards, and you keep what you learned each time round. Nothing here is ever finished, and that is not the failure it sounds like.

What your Book does with it

You put your life in, in your own words. It reads once a week and hands it back, what is working first.
